In the northern region rural practices the norm is 1:5 – 1:6
On Call Roster. Although we have some practices operating
under a 1:1 – 1:2 roster. These are beach
resorts idyllically located with quiet On Call (except holiday
season). All but one of these practices are supported
by other general practitioners within the On Call regions.
- What will I need to work in New Zealand?

A current Work NZ Work Visa
If you are bringing family we recommend that each

Visa, Work Visa or Student Visa. This will allow
multiple entry should you wish to travel outside of New
Zealand and then return again eg. visiting Australia
or the South Pacific Islands during your locum
term.
Please note when completing your
NZ Work Visa application form that General Practice is now
on the Priority Occupation List (POL). The
following link takes you to the NZIS website
www.immigration.govt.nz.
The Northern Consortium is officially recognised by the NZ
Immigration Service as one of two NZ agencies who can
confirm Priority Occupation List Work Visa Applications
(category Rural).
